BASEQ publishes a Blues magazine “The Groove” each month (11 times a year) for members. It lets them know what’s happening in and around Brisbane, interstate and overseas. It provides reviews, CD launches, and opportunity for advertising (public and corporate). It gives details of the upcoming month's Blues gigs. "The Groove" is available electronically or via hard copy to members of BASEQ. Each week we advise members of BASEQ of blues gigs in and around Brisbane via email.

Lloyd Spiegel – Tangled Brew
Lloyd draws his inspiration for his 12 original tracks from spending most of his life on a Blues stage. His clever lyrics and great rhythms makes this cd a must have for all blues lovers. His interpretation of blues is fresh and innovative. ‘Tangled Brew’ certainly has brought this acoustic blues guitarist into the forefront of the Australian blues/roots playlist, being number one on these charts for the past two months.
Lloyd’s vocal has warmth and a nice tonality. His raw energy and strong connection to the Blues is imparted onto those who listen to ‘Tangled Brew’.
My favourite tracks, and you’ll notice I couldn’t pick just one, would have to be track 8, ‘Ten Miles From Your Door’, which has a heavier sound with the introduction of the slide guitar to the song, and also the funky rhythms of track 9, ‘For the Kill’, makes this a favourite for me as well.
Other tracks off the cd, ‘Blade’ and ‘The Man That I Was’ have stringed instruments within the compilation giving these tracks a mellow sound with a difference.
So if you want to get out and have a layed back evening or afternoon supporting an inspirational blues acoustic artist, don’t miss Lloyd when he travels our way delivering his interpretation of Blues into our minds and souls. Groove on…..
